Continuing Care Program

Individuals who have been assessed as candidates to receive this level of care gain admission to St. Joseph's through the Capital Health Authority, Central Assessment and Placement Service. Our team of professional and support staff provide a full range of services and programs to meet individual needs, promote independence and restore health and well-being to the greatest extent possible. Although many people call St. Joseph's home, others may have the opportunity to improve their overall health and return to community living. Huntington Program
St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital

As a centre of expertise for Huntington Disease, St. Joseph's specializes in meeting the unique needs of clients with Huntington Disease. Providing trained staff and an environment that supports independence for Huntington Disease clients, we are pleased to welcome the Huntington's Resource Centre to St. Joseph's Hospital as of December, 1996. Located on the second floor, the Resource Centre is able to bridge the transition between community and continuing care with the presence of the office at St. Joseph's. Palliative Program
St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital

As part of the Edmonton Regional Palliative Care Program, St. Joseph's has fourteen dedicated Palliative Care beds. St. Joseph's customized program incorporates our strong mission and values into services that are compassionate and ethically based, while meeting the holistic needs of palliative care patients and their families. Palliative Care is a unique program that enables terminally ill patients to access care in a supportive environment that focuses on maintaining quality of life and personal comfort. Community Day Support Program

Our Community Day Support Program offers Nursing Services, Occupational, Physical, and Recreation Therapy in a bright, cheerful environment. Operating Monday through Friday, the program is open to adults with chronic illness or cognitive impairment. Services also include nutritional counseling and personal care, including the opportunity to visit the hairdresser. The cost to attend this program is $8.00 per visit. CAPD Program
St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital

Residents requiring Peritoneal Dialysis and unable to reside at home receive treatment at St. Joseph's in our seven-bed program. Working in collaboration with the Northern Alberta Renal Program at the University of Alberta Hospital, Home Peritoneal Dialysis Unit, and the Capital Health Authority Central Assessment and Placement Services, St. Joseph's is able to provide specialized care within an environment that promotes independence and client and family involvement.
